Heatwave to Hit Morocco: Temperatures Up to 47°C Forecast in Several Regions Through Saturday

Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has forecast a severe heatwave affecting several regions of the country from Wednesday through Saturday, with temperatures expected to reach 47°C. An Orange Alert has been issued due to the extreme weather conditions.

According to the DGM, the provinces of Tata, Es-Semara, Assa-Zag, and Zagora will experience the highest temperatures, ranging between 44°C and 47°C from Wednesday to Saturday.

From Wednesday to Friday, temperatures between 40°C and 44°C are also expected in Khouribga, Kelaat Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Jerada, Taourirt, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Khénifra, Boulemane, Guercif, Oujda-Angad, and Taroudant.

Meanwhile, the provinces of Nador, Driouch, and Berkane are forecast to record temperatures between 35°C and 40°C.

In addition, from Wednesday through Thursday, temperatures ranging from 38°C to 42°C are expected in Youssoufia, Taounate, Khemisset, Taza, Ouazzane, and Sidi Kacem.

The meteorological authorities have urged residents to take precautions by staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours, and following weather safety recommendations.
