Hammouchi Receives Brazilian Ambassador in Rabat to Strengthen Bilateral Security Cooperation

Talks Focus on Counterterrorism and Transnational Crime

Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, received on Thursday at the new headquarters of Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security in Rabat, Alexandre Guido Lopes Parola, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Kingdom of Morocco.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to review the strong security cooperation between Morocco and Brazil, particularly in the areas of border security, counterterrorism, and the fight against transnational organized crime.

A Shared Strategic Vision for Enhanced Security Partnership

The discussions also focused on assessing the current level of bilateral cooperation and developing a shared strategic vision aimed at strengthening police training programs, combating irregular migration networks, and monitoring and countering the activities of terrorist organizations operating across the Sahel-Sahara region.

Advancing the 2024 Morocco-Brazil Security Agreement

The meeting comes as part of ongoing efforts to implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024 between Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security and Territorial Surveillance and the Brazilian Federal Police.

The agreement seeks to enhance cooperation in combating transnational organized crime, including drug trafficking, terrorism, human trafficking, migrant smuggling, illicit arms and explosives trafficking, money laundering, document forgery, and cybercrime.

Strengthening International Security Cooperation

The meeting highlights the commitment of Morocco’s security institutions to expanding strategic partnerships with friendly nations through a sustainable approach focused on intelligence sharing, specialized training, and operational cooperation, with the objective of addressing emerging criminal and terrorist threats at both regional and international levels.
