Morocco Set to Strengthen Its Air Fleet with 24 Black Hawk Helicopters: New Transport and Support Capabilities Morocco is continuing to modernize its military aviation capabilities by strengthening

Morocco is continuing Morocco is continuing to modernize its military aviation capabilities by strengthening the Royal Air Force fleet with modern, multi-role helicopters, as part of a broader effort to enhance tactical airlift, field support and logistical capabilities.
According to information currently circulating, Morocco is preparing to receive 24 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, one of the latest versions of the “Black Hawk” family manufactured by Sikorsky, a subsidiary of the U.S. company Lockheed Martin.
Black Hawk: A Multi-Mission Helicopter
The UH-60M is not limited to troop transport. It was designed as a versatile airborne platform capable of being adapted to a wide range of operations.
The helicopter can transport personnel and equipment, support units deployed in the field, conduct medical evacuation operations, deliver supplies and carry out logistical missions. It can also support certain special and humanitarian operations.
These capabilities are particularly important in rugged or hard-to-reach areas where conventional ground transportation can be difficult to use. Air transport makes it possible to reduce response times and move personnel and equipment more rapidly.
Technical Preparations Ahead of Entry into Service
According to published information, the U.S. company MAC Aerospace is involved in several activities related to the transportation and delivery of the helicopters, as well as inspection, maintenance, technical preparation and the integration of certain required equipment before their arrival in Morocco.
This phase forms part of the technical and logistical procedures that generally precede the operational deployment of new military aircraft, ensuring that they are prepared in accordance with defined operational requirements.
Twin Engines and Performance in Challenging Conditions
The UH-60M is powered by two General Electric T700-GE-701D turboshaft engines. Its maximum speed is approximately 294 km/h (183 mph), while its operational range is around 590 kilometers (367 miles), although actual performance may vary depending on payload, equipment configuration and mission conditions.
The helicopter can carry approximately 11 fully equipped soldiers and can also transport external loads using its underside cargo hook, providing additional capacity for moving equipment and supplies.
Its cabin configuration can also be modified according to mission requirements, whether for transporting troops and equipment or for medical evacuation operations.
Digital Cockpit and Modern Navigation and Communication Systems
The UH-60M features a digital cockpit equipped with multiple multifunction displays, along with modern navigation, communications and flight-management systems.
The aircraft is also designed for nighttime operations, including the use of night-vision devices, as well as systems and equipment that assist the crew in operating under different environmental and climatic conditions.
The modern version also incorporates a range of technological improvements aimed at enhancing reliability and safety while facilitating crew operations during various missions.
An Addition to Military Airlift Capabilities
If the delivery operation is confirmed and completed in accordance with the information currently being reported, the entry of these helicopters into service would strengthen the Royal Air Force’s capabilities in tactical transport, aerial support, medical evacuation and logistical missions.
The platform could also provide greater flexibility in moving troops and equipment, particularly in situations requiring a rapid response or access to areas that are difficult to reach by land.
The move forms part of a broader effort to modernize Morocco’s military aviation system through the introduction of modern platforms and equipment, while further developing capabilities related to airlift, operational readiness and response to a range of missions.to modernize its military aviation capabilities by strengthening
