The Ministry of Equipment and Water has issued an updated Orange-Level Weather Alert, warning of snowfall and heavy rainfall, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms, in several regions of the Kingdom from Friday evening through Saturday.
According to the ministry, mountainous areas above 2,000 meters in the provinces of Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Midelt, and Azilal are expected to receive snowfall ranging from 10 to 25 centimeters. The snowfall is forecast to begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and continue until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Heavy rainfall, with accumulations between 20 and 40 mm and accompanied by localized thunderstorms, is also expected in the provinces of Tinghir, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Azilal, Beni Mellal, and Midelt from Friday evening until Saturday morning.
In addition, thunderstorm activity is forecast for the provinces of Errachidia, Boulemane, and Figuig on Saturday, with rainfall amounts ranging between 20 and 40 mm from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Authorities have urged citizens and road users to exercise caution, particularly in mountainous areas affected by snowfall, and to closely follow official weather updates and safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities.
These weather conditions are part of a broader period of atmospheric instability affecting several regions of Morocco, highlighting the importance of taking preventive measures to reduce risks associated with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall, especially in rural and mountainous areas.
