Marrakech Set to Host the 6th Edition of the Short Film Festival with Strong International Participation

The city of Marrakech is preparing to host the 6th edition of the MARRAKECHsFF – Marrakech Short Film Festival, from September 25 to 30, 2026, in a major cinematic event that highlights short films as a powerful tool for creativity, cultural exchange, and dialogue between peoples.

International participation from more than 90 countries

The festival has unveiled its official selection after receiving more than 400 short films from over 90 countries across different continents. This strong response reflects the event’s growing international reach and further establishes Marrakech as a meeting place for filmmakers, emerging talents, and industry professionals from Morocco and around the world.

🇲🇦 Supporting Morocco’s emerging filmmakers

The national competition remains one of the key components of the festival, showcasing works by emerging Moroccan directors and talents while providing them with an opportunity to present their productions and connect with film professionals and institutions from Morocco and abroad.

Cinema as a bridge between cultures

The 6th edition places cultural diplomacy at the heart of its approach, using short films as a bridge between cultures and creating opportunities for artists and film professionals from different countries to meet, exchange experiences, and share ideas.

🇲🇹 Malta as Guest Country of Honour

The 2026 edition will also feature Malta as the Guest Country of Honour. Nine Maltese short films, spanning fiction, animation, and documentary, will be presented to Moroccan audiences as part of an initiative aimed at strengthening cultural exchange and closer ties between Morocco and Malta.

Marrakech at the heart of the festival

The festival’s programme will take place across several cultural and iconic venues in the city, including El Badi Palace, Cyber Park Gardens, The Folk, the French Institute of Marrakech, Meydene and World Storytelling Café.

Through this new edition, MARRAKECHsFF aims to support emerging cinematic creativity, strengthen Marrakech’s position as a cultural and artistic destination, and promote short films as a tool for dialogue and closer relations between Morocco and the rest of the world.
