ONSSA Marrakech-Safi Launches Regional Food Safety Days to Promote Food Safety Awareness and Consumer Protection

An initiative to raise awareness of the importance of safe food

As part of the celebration of World Food Safety Day, the Regional Directorate of the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) in the Marrakech-Safi region has launched a comprehensive program as part of the Regional Food Safety Days, taking place from 13 to 17 July 2026, under the national theme:

“How do ONSSA’s services contribute to ensuring consumers’ access to safe food?”

This initiative is part of ONSSA’s strategy to strengthen a culture of prevention and enhance public awareness of the importance of complying with food safety standards throughout the production and marketing chain, thereby protecting public health and improving the quality of food products available to consumers.

A diverse program for citizens and professionals

The regional event will feature a wide range of communication and awareness-raising activities targeting citizens, food sector professionals, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders involved in food safety.

The program includes public meetings, information booths, educational workshops, and field awareness campaigns aimed at bringing ONSSA’s missions closer to the public and highlighting the inspection and monitoring mechanisms it uses to ensure the safety of food products from the earliest stages of production until they reach consumers.

Highlighting inspection and monitoring responsibilities

The event also provides an opportunity to showcase ONSSA’s role in inspecting plant- and animal-based products, ensuring compliance with health standards in food establishments, monitoring food-related risks, and implementing the necessary measures to protect consumers.

Through this initiative, the Regional Directorate seeks to strengthen cooperation with all stakeholders and encourage the adoption of best practices that ensure the safe production and consumption of food.

Strengthening confidence in the food safety system

The ONSSA Regional Directorate in Marrakech-Safi emphasizes that these Regional Food Safety Days represent an opportunity to reinforce public confidence in the national food safety control system and highlight the ongoing efforts to ensure food security through continuous inspection, awareness campaigns, and collaboration with partners, while safeguarding consumers’ right to access safe, high-quality food that meets health and safety standards.
