Heatwave to Hit Several Moroccan Provinces as Temperatures Expected to Reach 45°C

Orange Weather Alert Issued by Morocco’s Meteorological Authority

Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has forecast a significant heatwave affecting several regions of the Kingdom from Friday through Sunday, according to an orange-level weather warning issued by the national weather service.

The agency stated that temperatures ranging between 40°C and 45°C are expected in the provinces and prefectures of Errachidia, Jerada, Taourirt, Figuig, Zagora, Tata, Boujdour, Oued Eddahab, Aousserd, Guercif, and Boulemane during the three-day period.

Extremely Hot Conditions Forecast for Inland Areas

The weather bulletin also indicates that temperatures between 39°C and 42°C are expected on Saturday and Sunday in the provinces of Taza, Berkane, Oujda-Angad, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, and Taounate.

Authorities Urge Residents to Take Precautions

In light of the anticipated extreme heat, meteorological authorities are urging residents to adopt preventive measures, including avoiding direct exposure to the sun during peak daytime hours and staying adequately hydrated. Special attention is advised for children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic health conditions
