Tourist Transport in Morocco: Marrakech Unveils a New Roadmap for a More Digital Sector Ahead of 2030

National Forum Places Reform at the Heart of Future Priorities
The development of tourist transport in Morocco is no longer viewed solely as a means of supporting the tourism industry. It has become a strategic national priority driven by the country’s preparations for major international events in the coming years. Against this backdrop, the fourth National Tourist Transport Forum, held in Marrakech, concluded with a series of initiatives and recommendations aimed at modernizing the sector and strengthening its capacity to keep pace with the rapid growth of Moroccan tourism.
Held under the theme “What Legislative, Financial and Digital Solutions for Meeting the 2030 Challenge?”, the forum, organized by the National Federation of Tourist Transport, brought together key stakeholders to discuss the sector’s challenges and explore ways to build a more innovative, flexible and competitive transport ecosystem.
A Moroccan Digital Platform for Tourist Transport
One of the forum’s flagship announcements was the planned launch of a Moroccan digital platform dedicated to tourist transport services. The platform is designed to improve coordination between industry stakeholders, enhance customer experience and provide services that comply with national regulations while accelerating digital transformation and boosting the competitiveness of Moroccan transport companies.
A One-Stop Administrative Service for Investors
The Federation also announced consultations with government institutions to establish a one-stop administrative service for the creation of tourist transport companies and the renewal of operating licenses. The initiative aims to simplify procedures, reduce administrative delays and create a more attractive investment environment for the sector.
University Partnership to Strengthen Professional Skills
In the field of human capital development, a cooperation agreement was signed with Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech. The partnership focuses on academic training, scientific research and professional integration, with the objective of preparing qualified professionals capable of meeting the evolving needs of the tourist transport industry.
Legal Reform and Better Financing Mechanisms
Participants called for a comprehensive review of the legal framework governing tourist transport to ensure it reflects ongoing economic and digital transformations. They also advocated for clear regulations governing transport services offered through digital platforms, ensuring fair competition while maintaining high service standards.
The recommendations further highlighted the importance of introducing financing solutions tailored to the specific needs of tourist transport companies, supporting fleet renewal and encouraging the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles as part of Morocco’s sustainable mobility strategy.
Investing in Infrastructure and Human Resources
The Forum stressed that improving tourist transport services requires not only modern vehicles but also continued investment in infrastructure and workforce development through both initial and ongoing professional training. These elements are considered essential to enhancing service quality and strengthening Morocco’s appeal as a global tourism destination.
An Annual Platform for Shaping the Sector’s Future
Bringing together government officials, academics, elected representatives and industry professionals, the National Tourist Transport Forum has established itself as an annual platform for discussing the future of the sector. Participants emphasized the need for stronger coordination among all stakeholders to transform tourist transport into a key driver of Morocco’s tourism development and ensure the country’s readiness for major international events in the years ahead.
