Weather Alert Warns of Extreme Heat Across Several Moroccan Regions

The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced a severe heatwave expected to affect several regions of Morocco starting this Sunday, under an orange-level weather alert. Temperatures are forecast to rise to exceptionally high levels, reaching up to 45°C.
Southern Provinces Among the Hottest Areas
According to official data, the heatwave will continue until Wednesday, May 27, affecting the provinces of Smara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Eddahab, Aousserd, Tarfaya, Tata, and Laayoune, where temperatures are expected to range between 42°C and 45°C.
Marrakech, Fez and Beni Mellal Also Affected
The hot weather will also impact several inland cities and provinces, including Marrakech, Chichaoua, Rehamna, Kelaat Sraghna, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknes, Fez, Settat, Safi, Kenitra, Khemisset, Taroudant, and Guelmim, with temperatures ranging between 37°C and 42°C.
Hot Conditions to Persist Along Coastal Areas
Meteorological authorities also stated that the hot weather is expected to continue until Tuesday, May 26, in several coastal and semi-coastal regions, including Casablanca, Rabat, Salé, Mohammedia, El Jadida, and Agadir, where temperatures are forecast to range between 38°C and 41°C.
Authorities Urge Citizens to Take Precautions
Weather services urged citizens to take the necessary precautions, especially during peak heat hours, by drinking plenty of water and avoiding direct exposure to sunlight in order to protect their health and safety.
