Setti Fadma: Illegal Mining Activity Dismantled, 60 Bags of Suspected Mineral Stones Seized

Joint Field Operation Leads to Major Stone Seizure
Local authorities in Setti Fadma, Al Haouz Province, in coordination with the Auxiliary Forces and the Royal Gendarmerie, carried out a targeted field operation that resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of bags filled with stones suspected of being linked to illegal mining activities.
The security and administrative intervention was launched following precise intelligence indicating the presence of stockpiled bags along a roadside near the village of Iskaour, where they were allegedly awaiting transportation by individuals suspected of unlawfully exploiting the region’s mineral resources.
More Than 60 Bags of Stones Seized
The joint operation led to the confiscation of more than 60 bags of stones believed to be intended for the extraction of valuable minerals outside the legal framework and without the permits and authorizations required by the competent authorities.
Preliminary findings suggest that the seized material was prepared for transportation and distribution as part of illegal activities aimed at exploiting natural resources beyond official oversight and regulatory control.
Ongoing Efforts to Combat Illegal Exploitation of Natural Resources
The operation forms part of a broader series of measures undertaken by Al Haouz provincial authorities to combat the unlawful exploitation of mineral and natural resources, a phenomenon that poses significant environmental and economic challenges while affecting local communities’ rights to benefit sustainably from these resources.
Judicial Investigation Opened Under Prosecutorial Supervision
A judicial investigation has been launched under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case and to deepen inquiries aimed at identifying all individuals potentially involved, paving the way for their arrest and the implementation of the necessary legal proceedings.
