Two Bodies Found Along Railway Track at Marrakech Entrance; Authorities Launch Investigation

Security services in Marrakech opened an in-depth judicial investigation during the early hours of Wednesday to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two individuals in separate train-related incidents along the railway section bordering the Mabrouka neighborhood, near the bridge located at the entrance to the city.

The incident prompted an immediate response from local authorities and various security agencies upon receiving notification of the events.

According to preliminary information obtained from local sources, the first accident occurred shortly before midnight on Tuesday night. A 34-year-old man from the Al Mawqif district in Marrakech’s old medina was attempting to cross the railway tracks accompanied by his wife and a third individual.

Sources reported that the individuals involved were living under difficult social conditions and were allegedly in an abnormal state at the time of the incident. As they attempted to cross, a passing train struck the man, causing his death instantly. The third individual fled the scene to an unknown destination, while the victim’s wife remained at the site until the arrival of the authorities.

While police and civil protection teams were conducting a search operation in the area for possible human remains related to the first victim, they discovered a second body belonging to a teenager estimated to be around 16 years old, approximately 40 meters from the location of the first accident.

Preliminary findings suggest that the second victim was also living in a situation of homelessness and may have been struck by a train in a separate incident that occurred earlier along the same railway section.

The scene witnessed a large-scale deployment involving local authorities, judicial police officers, forensic and scientific police units, officers from the 13th police district, and civil protection teams.

Following on-site examinations and evidence collection procedures, both bodies and the recovered remains were transferred to the morgue for forensic autopsy and the preparation of a detailed medical report. Judicial police investigators continue their inquiries, considering all possible scenarios in order to establish the exact causes and circumstances behind this tragic incident.
