Work Begins on Expansion of the Road Leading to Marrakech Menara Airport

Construction work to upgrade and widen the road connecting Al Mhamid to Azli toward Marrakech Menara Airport officially began on Friday, June 26, in the presence of Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, Mayor of Marrakech. The project is part of a broader program aimed at modernizing the city’s road infrastructure and improving traffic flow.

A Strategic Transport Corridor

The road serves as one of the main access routes to Marrakech Menara Airport while connecting several residential neighborhoods and high-traffic areas, making it a priority within the city’s urban development plans.

Modern Infrastructure Improvements

The project includes widening the roadway, upgrading public lighting, constructing several roundabouts, creating dedicated lanes for two-wheel vehicles, and planting trees along the route. These improvements are designed to enhance road safety, ease traffic congestion, and improve the urban landscape.

The works will also modernize the road’s overall infrastructure to facilitate mobility and provide easier access to the airport and surrounding districts.

Traffic Management During Construction

Temporary traffic management measures, including road signage and directional guidance, will be implemented throughout the construction period to minimize disruptions and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles.

Once completed, the project is expected to significantly improve infrastructure along this strategic corridor, enhance road safety, facilitate access to Marrakech Menara Airport, and support the city’s ongoing urban and economic development.
