Sustained Growth Strengthens Morocco’s Position as a Global Tourism Destination
Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy announced that the Kingdom welcomed more than 7.7 million tourists between January and the end of May 2026, representing a 7% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The figures highlight the continued positive momentum of Morocco’s tourism sector.
Significant Increase in Tourist Arrivals During May
According to an official statement from the Ministry, May 2026 alone recorded nearly 1.7 million tourist arrivals, marking a 13% increase compared to May 2025. This growth reflects the increasing attractiveness of Morocco as a preferred destination for travelers from around the world.
A Comprehensive Strategy Supporting Tourism Growth
Commenting on the results, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy Fatim-Zahra Ammor stated that the tourism sector continues to achieve positive performance throughout 2026. She noted that these indicators demonstrate the effectiveness of the national strategy designed to strengthen and develop the sector.
The Minister added that the strategy focuses on expanding air connectivity, enhancing Morocco’s tourism offering, and improving the overall visitor experience, thereby increasing the country’s competitiveness on the global tourism market.
Enhancing the Kingdom’s Attractiveness and Ensuring Sustainable Growth
Fatim-Zahra Ammor emphasized that the adopted vision enables Morocco to maintain sustainable growth and further strengthen its appeal among international tourists. Ongoing efforts are being made to improve tourism services and expand connections with key international markets.
